A Rooftop Tampa Wedding Filled With Personal Details and a Last-Minute Pivot
Some weddings come together exactly as planned. Others take a little creativity, flexibility, and trust in your vendor team to bring everything together beautifully. Cassey and Brian’s wedding was a perfect example of how a celebration can still feel effortless and elegant even when the planning journey takes an unexpected turn.
Cassey and Brian’s story began the way many modern love stories do. The two met on Hinge and quickly realized they had something special. Their first date was at Ulele in Tampa, a spot that holds a lot of meaning for Tampa locals and one that set the tone for their relationship rooted in the city they both call home.
Over time, Tampa became the backdrop to their relationship. From everyday moments to milestones, the city played an important role in their story. Brian eventually planned the perfect proposal during a trip to Chicago, getting down on one knee on a bridge overlooking the city. It was romantic, memorable, and completely unexpected for Cassey.
When it came time to plan their wedding, choosing Tampa was an easy decision. Not only is it where they met and fell in love, but it also allowed their family and friends to experience the beauty of the city they enjoy every day.
A Wedding Design That Reflected Both of Them
From the beginning, the couple wanted their wedding design to reflect both of their personalities. Cassey gravitated toward soft, airy design elements with neutral tones, while Brian’s love for golf inspired playful details woven throughout the celebration.
The overall aesthetic featured ivory and white florals accented with greenery to create an organic and timeless look. The natural palette allowed the waterfront setting and rooftop views to shine while still feeling elegant and elevated.
Brian’s personality came through in thoughtful golf-inspired touches throughout the reception. Guests found golf flag table numbers, miniature golf carts incorporated into the décor, and even a custom putting green personalized with the couple’s names. The seating chart invited guests to “Let’s Par-tee,” setting a fun and relaxed tone for the evening.
The result was a wedding that felt cohesive and personal without being overly themed.
A Last-Minute Venue Change
Originally, the couple planned to host their wedding at the Rusty Pelican in Tampa. However, after Hurricane Milton caused significant damage and the venue was unable to reopen in time, the couple suddenly found themselves needing to pivot their plans just a few months before the wedding.
With about three months remaining before the big day, we worked together to quickly identify a new venue that could still provide the waterfront views and elegant atmosphere they envisioned.
The Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay turned out to be the perfect fit.
Perched along the waterfront, the venue offered the beautiful water views the couple originally wanted, along with a stunning rooftop ceremony space and a reception ballroom lined with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bay. Despite the unexpected change, the new location created an incredible setting for their wedding day.
Sometimes the unplanned changes end up creating the most beautiful outcomes.
Following the ceremony, guests moved inside for the reception where the celebration truly began. The ballroom at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay provided panoramic waterfront views while guests enjoyed dinner, heartfelt toasts, and plenty of time on the dance floor.
Despite the unexpected venue change, Cassey and Brian’s wedding day came together beautifully. Their celebration was a reflection of their story, meaningful, personal, and filled with moments that felt uniquely theirs.
From meeting on Hinge and their first date at Ulele, to a proposal on a bridge in Chicago and a waterfront wedding overlooking Tampa Bay, every part of their journey led to this unforgettable day.
